Holocaust denial
May 15, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Holocaust deniers are people who contend that the Holocaust – the attempt by Nazi Germany to annihilate European Jewry during WWII – never happened. According to the deniers, the Nazis did not murder six million Jews, the notion of homicidal gas chambers is a myth, and any deaths of Jews that did occur under the Nazis were the result of wartime privations, not of systematic persecution and state-organised mass murder.
Deniers dismiss all assertions that the Holocaust took place as conscious fabrications, or as psychotic delusions. Some even claim that Hitler was the best friend the Jews had in Germany, and that he actively worked to protect them. According to deniers, Jews have perpetrated this hoax about the Holocaust on the world in order to gain political and financial advantage, and it was in fact Germany that was the true victim in WWII.
We’ll take a look at the reasons why people might subscribe to this theory and what verifiable evidence there is for the mass murder of Jewish people during the war. If you have points you’d like to share on the topic, bring them along – on paper or on a thumb drive.
We will be at a new venue, 43 Below, in their conference room. Booking is under ‘Tanya Marwood’.
A gold coin donation from attendees is appreciated, towards the cost of running the Meetup (which is approx. $240 p.a.)
